The 2011 National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest submission period runs from April 5 to July 11. More than 3,700 photographers entered nearly 11,000 images in last year's competition. The pictures captured an assortment of the places, wildlife, and people that make traveling memorable, evoking a sense of delight or discovery—or both. For the 23rd year, we are inviting readers to share their photos of the world around them.
